Sponsorship arrangements in Poland — what they are and the risks

Published: August 24, 2026

“Sponsoring” — sponsorship — is one of the most searched terms around Polish companionship ads, and one of the least precise. Here is what it usually means in practice, how it differs from classic listings, and why scammers are especially fond of the word.

What “sponsorship” means

In the language of the ads, sponsorship is a longer, recurring arrangement: regular meetings with one person in exchange for steady financial support — instead of individual meetings billed by the hour. The terms (frequency, form of support, boundaries) are agreed individually by the two people involved.

What sets it apart from a classic ad is mainly the character of the relationship: less transactional, closer to an ongoing acquaintance — which is why the term sits near “GFE”, explained in our glossary.

A voluntary arrangement between two adults is not prohibited in Poland — the same as other companionship services. What is punishable is third parties profiting from someone else’s work, procuring and coercion — the full picture is in Is escorting legal in Poland?.

The term is heavily exploited by scammers, especially on social media:

Safe ground rules

  1. No payments, codes or card details “to start” — in either direction.
  2. A first meeting on neutral terms: in a public place, or on the same terms as a regular ad.
  3. Agree the terms of the arrangement explicitly — ambiguity is the shortest route to conflict.
  4. Discretion binds both sides.
