Phone sex and online shows: how remote services work
Published: August 24, 2026
Not every escort ad is about meeting in person. The shows and phone sex category gathers offers of services provided exclusively at a distance — by phone and by camera. Here is how it works, how payments are handled and why the settlement rules here are the reverse of those for in-person meetings.
What this category covers
- Phone sex — an erotic conversation over the phone, billed per minute of the call or per agreed session. The oldest form of remote services, still present in classifieds.
- Online shows (cam) — a live video stream over a messenger; the client sees the advertiser, and the scope and scenario of the show are agreed before it starts.
- Video calls and “wirt” — a looser format combining conversation and video; in Polish ads it is often described by the word “wirt” (short for “virtual”), which we explain in the glossary of escort terms.
The common denominator: the service ends at the screen and the handset. Ads in this category do not include in-person meetings, and there is no point asking for one — if the advertiser also receives clients in person, she simply runs a separate ad in another category.
Why this is a safe starting point
For people who are only beginning to look at escort ads, remote services have one obvious advantage: no in-person meeting at all. You give no address, you travel nowhere unfamiliar, you meet nobody face to face — and yet you get to see what contact with the advertiser is like and how reliable she is. Both sides stay fully anonymous, and everything happens on terms agreed before the session starts.
Payments: here, prepayment is the norm
For in-person meetings the rule is iron-clad: you settle on the spot, and demanding prepayment for a meeting is a scam — we cover this in how to spot genuine escort ads.
With remote services the logic is reversed, and the difference is worth understanding properly. An online show cannot be “settled on the spot” because there is no spot — the advertiser provides the service at a distance and has no way of collecting payment after the fact. That is why prepayment for a booked show or phone session is a normal, honest practice, not a warning sign.
To keep a prepayment safe, stick to a few rules:
- Price and scope agreed upfront — a specific amount for a specific time and scenario, confirmed before you pay.
- Ordinary payment methods — a bank transfer or BLIK (Poland’s standard instant-payment system); the payment channel is stated in the ad or by the advertiser in conversation.
- You pay for a session, not “on account” — one booked service, one amount.
Red flags
The remote category has its own scam patterns — different from fake meeting ads, but just as repetitive:
- Demands for gift codes (Google Play, paysafecard, prepaid cards) instead of an ordinary payment. Codes are unrecoverable and almost always mean fraud.
- Fee escalation mid-way — after you pay for a session, a demand appears for another “unlock payment”, a “deposit” or a “verification fee”. An honest offer has one price, agreed upfront.
- Pressure and countdowns — a “promotion for the next 10 minutes only”, threats that your “booking will lapse”. Time pressure is a classic grifter’s tool.
- A promise of an in-person meeting after payment — combining an online prepayment with the promise of a later meeting is an attempt to get around the iron rule that meetings are never paid for upfront.
If any of these happens, break off contact and report the ad using the report button — escortnow’s moderation reviews such listings.
Summary
Remote services are a fully legitimate part of the classifieds market: a clearly described service, a price agreed upfront and prepayment as the standard — unlike in-person meetings, where you pay only on the spot.
